An Odd Photo from
Blood Cemetery, Hollis, NH
by Fiona Broome and the Hollow Hill staff ©2005
Part two: More on 11 October 1999
At least one of the other, b&w photos from October 11th is odd, to say the least.

The photo above looks like it was taken on a dreary, misty New England day. Instead, I shot it at about 3 p.m. the same day as the rest of the photos on this page, when the sun was still bright and the sky was nearly cloudless. The sun was behind me. There was no fog or mist at the graveyard. The cemetery is grassy, with no dusty areas to create a hazy image. It was a warm day (60 degrees F), so there was no fog from my breath as I snapped the picture.
The photo below--from the same roll of film in the same camera--shows the contrast of the light and the depth-of-field I get with this camera. I took this crisp photo within three minutes of the misty-looking one, and no more than thirty feet away in identical lighting conditions.
