Ghosts, EMF,
and the Philadelphia Experiment

The Philadelphia Experiment, also known as Project Rainbow, is the subject of much speculation. The question is: Did the Navy cover up a partially successful experiment that included making a warship invisible and teleporting it many miles away?

HISTORY

It may have started with Einstein's Unified Field Theory, or with Nikola Tesla's experiments with invisibility in the 1930s. With an eye to military possibilities, these experiments soon expanded and were being supervised near Philadelphia at Princeton's Institute of Advanced Studies.

By the early 1940s, there were reports that the U.S. Navy used animals in similar experiments to cross time and space. In fact, in mid- to late 1943, the Navy allegedly continued these experiments with their own sailors.

This story became much larger on October 28, 1943, when an eyewitness, Carl Meredith Allen, saw the USS Eldridge vanish and then reappear four hours later. During the ship's 4 hour absence, it was reported at Norfolk Harbor and at Montauk Point. (The Montauk location is referred to in reports of "The Montauk Project.")

After the USS Eldredge incident, the frightened Mr. Allen -- using the name Carlos Miguel Allende -- contacted UFO specialist and author, Morris K. Jessup. According to Allen, the USS Eldridge vanished with a full crew aboard. However, when the ship reappeared, most of the crew was dead, insane, or suffered terrible side effects of the experiment.

Initially, Jessup questioned Allen's sanity. After conducting a few investigations, Jessup seemed to take Allen ' s claims seriously. Soon, Jessup's reputation was in jeopardy, but he could not deny the facts that were coming to light.

In 1959, Jessup committed suicide or -- as some believe -- was killed to prevent additional facts about the Philadelphia Experiment coming to light.

After Jessup's death, additional witnesses came forward. Alfred D. Bielek claimed that he and his brother had been part of a Navy experiment that successfully moved them through time--to 1983--and back again.

There is far more to this story, including the official Navy statement about the experiments. While much of the story maybe nothing more than urban legend, there seems to be evidence that something really did happen around 1943, related to cross-dimensional travel.

HOW THIS RELATES TO GHOST HUNTING

The most intriguing part of the Philadelphia Experiment is that it involved the use of EMF. Regardless of the experiment ' s success, the possibility of EMF as a means of transporting through time and space raises several questions for ghost hunters.

We have observed that many hauntings are characterized by elevated EMF readings. So far, we have no explanation for this.

Some scientists have speculated that EMF disorients people, thereby making them susceptible to hallucinations. Skeptics claim that this is why some people think that they have encountered ghosts where there are high EMF readings.

Anecdotal evidence from the Philadelphia Experiment suggests that most of the participants in the experiment were driven mad by the EMF levels. Does this confirm the disorienting effects of EMF? Or, is it the government's efforts to discredit witnesses of the Philadelphia Experiment?

If Einstein, Tesla, and others were correct about EMF as an important tool in cross-dimensional travel, perhaps we need to look at EMF as more than a "symptom" of hauntings.

The initial purpose of the Philadelphia Experiment was (probably) to make warships invisible. Massive levels of EMF were generated for this purpose.

So, do ghosts use EMF to make themselves invisible... and to manifest? Or, do the high EMF levels in haunted settings prevent us from seeing ghosts in physical form?

Is it possible that ghosts or entities from another dimension are reaching our "haunted places" by using EMF? Is EMF the means by which they travel, or is it a byproduct of cross-dimensional travel?

There are many intriguing questions raised by the Philadelphia Experiment. Ghost hunters will be wise to keep this in mind when considering the importance of elevated EMF readings in haunted sites.

We have much to learn about EMF and its relationship to hauntings, invisibility (or "cloaking"), and travel across time and space.
