Memorial Day in the US can provide a rash of appearances at cemeteries and battlefields. Though there weren't any reported ghosts of soldiers this year, there are some quirky 'ghost stories' in recent news.

Guests of 'Fright Night' can spend the night in haunted Warwick Castle, visiting the Ghost Tower between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Ghosts include Moll Blexham's savage dog and Sir Fulke Greville.

Suburban Cleveland, Ohio Mayor Glenn Goodwin turned down ghost investigation of haunted Broadview Developmental Center, slated for destruction.

Eastern State Penitentiary, opened in 1829 and closed in 1970, now features self-guided audio tours... and ghosts including Al Capone, and a man given a life sentence for killing a cat.

Developer plans to turn former Howe Mortuary at 11th and Spruce in downtown Boulder into condos, but is doing spiritual cleansing and energy evaluations first.

Tamarind Tree restaurant on Cuerdale Lane in Samlesbury is in a haunted former 16th century farmhouse. The ghost is a woman who runs from the building, across the road, and into a field.

Dorms and rooms in Wales' much-hyped 'haunted' Craig-y-Nos Castle offer a surprisingly rustic experience. Prices sound low, but you should plan to pay extra for 'luxuries' such as a hot shower... and it's down the hall from your room, as well.
