Paranormal Light at Schoolhouse Cemetery

from the Hollow Hill staff ©2005

photo of cemetery with bright light from above

This is a photo by one of our photographers, at Schoolhouse Cemetery (correctly called "First Burial Ground"), on Daniel Webster Highway in southern Nashua, NH. The photo was taken at 9 p.m. around October 17, 1999.

We have no idea what caused the anomalies in this photograph. We barely noticed that there was an apparent band of light from the sky (?) until we enhanced this photo with a graphics program. (We increased the contrast and lightened the image.)

The white swirls and lines are something on our scanner glass. Ignore them.

The shaft of light is the anomaly. The photographer didn't see anything like that when she took the photo. Is it evidence of a ghost? The cemetery is probably haunted, looking at the 'Ghost orb' at Schoolhouse Cemetery. But, we don't know what this column of light is. It is not natural, and it's not a light leak or a chemical accident at the film processing lab.

It was just a very dark night in a cemetery when this picture was taken: No light. No moon. Very dark.

Camera: Kodak Advantix, point-and-shoot
Film type: Kodak Advantix color film, ASA 400
On negative: Nothing to indicate a splash of chemicals, and nothing on any other photo to suggest a light leak. Developed and printed by: Shaw's Supermarket overnight photo service
