Real ghost photos? You decide!

©2006 by Fiona Broome and the Hollow Hill Staff

When someone on our staff--or one of our readers--sends us an especially interesting photo, we discuss the picture. We share the best of these photos here, with our own views about each picture: Is it real? Is it scary? Is it a really haunted site?

This is a very new section at this website. Here are our earliest photos:

We'll be adding more photos as time permits.

There are never guarantees with ghost photos. We don't really know what they are; we only know that we get "odd" photos at places that are supposed to be haunted. We rarely see photos like these at sites that have no haunted history.

When we analyze photos, we look for lens flares, reflections from reflective surfaces, evidence of insects, dust, pollen, smoke, and the occasional errant camera strap.

We respect the integrity of our photographers. For example, if they say that a photo is "real" and it was a bug-free night, we believe them.

However, every photographer--even the pros--make mistakes now and then. And, in the most haunted settings, it's easy to become rattled by ghosts, and overlook basic things such as a camera strap.

So, we question every photograph we see. We don't think that the photographer is stupid, or trying to fool us. We simply want to consider the "normal" explanations before deciding that a picture is evidence of something paranormal.
