Ghost orb, or bug?

Pine Hill Cemetery (aka "Blood Cemetery"), Hollis, NH
17 October 1999, about 7 p.m.

Both of these photos were taken at Pine Hill Cemetery, aka "Blood Cemetery," on Nartoff Road in Hollis, New Hampshire.

The photo on the right shows something traveling in front of a tall monument.  The photo on the left, taken immediately before it, shows no anomaly. We don't know what the small lightish area is, left of the headstone at the front of the left photo. It's a little large to be an insect.

However, in the photograph on the right, we'll accept the normal explanation of insects flying in front of the camera, capturing the light as they move. The evening was chilly, so that's an unlikely explanation, but we can accept it as a possibility.

These photos are shown actual size, and have not been enhanced in any way.

The photographer did not see the orb or anything unusual, and was in a hurry to leave the cemetery, which closes at dusk. There was something unnatural in the cemetery that evening.

We offer these as "maybe bugs, maybe not" photos, but we're reluctant to say that they're real ghost photos. Frankly, we have much better pictures than these.

Blood Cemetery is one of southern New Hampshire's most famous "haunted" cemeteries, and its nickname comes from the reported ghost of Abel Blood.  His headstone is about 30 feet from the anomaly in the photo.

Nartoff Road is a quiet rural road near the Nashua airport.  There are no streetlights on this part of Nartoff Road.  There is only one house within about a quarter mile of this cemetery, and it does not appear in this photo.

Pine Hill Cemetery, aka "Blood Cemetery," is closed from dusk to dawn.  The police do patrol for trespassers.  Neighboring farmlands (pumpkins at this time of year) are also posted to prevent trespassing.

You can take photos from the roadside, but 80% of this small old cemetery is on top of a hill that is not visible from the road.  Most of the headstones are from the 19th century, though there are several from the 18th century and a few from the 20th.
