The Photographer Says:
This photo was taken at about 10:30 p.m., the same night as the
Marie Laveau Orb Pictures. I was standing
on Royal Street, just outside the haunted (and elegant) Hotel Monteleone. Something caught my eye on this
building across the street, so I started taking photos. This is the only photograph
of that building with anything remarkable in it.
As you can see, the glass
was not reflecting the flash and the lower orb wouldn't be a lens flare anyway. The camera was
pointed upwards so the cars on the street weren't a factor.
The higher orb is a classic 'ghost orb' and the lower one--with it's weird green color--is
baffling but also very real.
I don't yet know the history of the building, but it looked very empty and creepy when I was
photographing the Hotel Monteleone that night.
The Skeptic Says:
How can you be so certain that the cars weren't a factor? If someone who wasn't behind
the camera could confirm that, I'd be a little more certain that these
are real orbs.
I'm also wondering if there were more windows, including lower ones that might have reflected
your flash and you didn't realize it.
But, that lower orb with the yellow-green tint is an odd one anyway. I'm not certain that
it's an orb even if it is paranormal. Was there anything nearby, such as a
car mirror, which could have reflected your flash onto the building?
The Photographer Replies:
There were no lower windows that could have reflected the flash. There were no car mirrors or shiny surfaces that
could have reflected light in such a well-defined shape onto the building, either.
After seeing this picture, I went back for more photos, trying to duplicate this effect and
couldn't. This is a real 'ghost orb' photo, and I agree that the lower photo isn't
a typical orb, but I don't know what else to call it.
